Just did my R Licence here. John the instructor was excellent. Highly qualified and experienced. Facilities were clean, and course was interesting. Bikes were clean late models MT07-09 & Hornet 750. Nice location as you can see the planes flying overhead from Archerfield Airport. The road experience was real world as many heavy vehicles and commercial utes were tearing around. A good experience overall. Give them a go.

Just finished my pre learners course with John. John is an amazing and patient instructor with a ton of experience. Carefully and calmly he guided us through two activity-heavy days. We emerged quite competent to ride as learners and will return for REs.
Facilities and bikes are in decent conditions. Nothing extremely fancy, but all you need to get in and out in a safe and comfortable manner.
Thank you SU and thank you John.

I took the Q-ride course on 7th and 8th of June. Extremely impressed with the contents and love the time we get to practice on the track. Anthony was my instructor. He has good jokes, clear and easy to understand instructions, relatable examples to real life situations. 100% recommend here to start your motorbike journey.

Went back to do my RE with Dave. Again 10/10! Good sense of humor, great instructions!

Absolutely excellent! Dave is an amazing teacher. I had never ridden a motorbike before this course but his teaching style was methodical, entertaining and he provided so many good tips and tricks. I loved especially that he emphasized safety and being sensible on the roads. I really enjoyed the course and felt that the course progressed at a good pace that felt comfortable, and I felt very safe the whole time. Would highly recommend!

Motorcycle Licence Courses in Brisbane South

If you are searching for a motorcycle licence course in Brisbane South, Archerfield is the local Stay Upright training centre for the full pathway: Learn to Ride, Q-Ride Pre-Learner, Restricted RE and Unrestricted R courses.

How do you get a motorcycle licence in Queensland?

To get a motorcycle licence in QLD, new riders should start with Learn to Ride, then complete the 2-day Q-Ride Pre-Learner course at Archerfield. After holding your learner licence for at least 90 days, you complete your RE licence course, followed by your full R licence after two years.

How long does it take to get a motorcycle licence?

Once you have basic bike control, you can complete the Pre-Learner course in two days and legally ride as a learner once you pass. The full licence process takes just over two years, but most riders can be on the road within a few days of starting.

Do I need my own motorcycle or gear?

No. Your motorcycle, helmet and gloves are provided on every course at Archerfield.

What happens during the Pre-Learner course?

Day one focuses on basic control, clutch work, braking and slow-speed riding. Day two builds into more controlled riding, hazard awareness and the Q-Ride assessment.

What do beginners struggle with most?

Most beginners struggle with clutch control and slow-speed balance early on. That is normal, and it is exactly what the first part of the course is designed to improve.

Can I pass if I have never ridden before?

Not quite. If you have no riding experience, start with Learn to Ride first. The Pre-Learner course is the first licensing step and is focused on roadcraft, safe riding decisions and assessment readiness.

Bikes use a fraction of the fuel a car does, and the savings don't stop there. Lower registration costs, cheaper insurance, and free or discounted parking add up fast. A motorcycle licence could be one of the smartest financial moves you make this year.
