NSW Pre-Learner Motorcycle Course
Stay Upright is accredited by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to deliver the mandatory motorcycle licensing courses. The Pre-Learner Course is the first step every NSW rider must complete to obtain their Motorcycle Learner’s Permit.
Over two half-day sessions (3.5 hours each), you’ll work hands-on with our experienced TfNSW-accredited instructors on a training range. No prior experience is needed — we provide everything, including the bike, helmet and gloves.
Upon successful completion you receive your Certificate of Completion, which you take to Service NSW — along with passing a knowledge test — to have your Learner Licence issued.

NSW Pre-Learner Course
You’re at the beginning of something really great. The Pre-Learner course is an NSW Government requirement to gain your Motorcycle Learner’s Permit. We offer the accredited course at locations across NSW with a wide range of dates to suit you.
- Accredited by Transport for NSW (TfNSW).
- 2 half-days, 3.5 hours each.
- Bike, helmet and gloves provided.
- Scooters not available at Eastern Creek or Loftus.
- Must be at least 16 yrs 6 months old on course day.
NSW Trike Pre-Learner Course
The one-day Trike Pre-Learner course is a requirement to obtain your Motorcycle Learner’s Permit for a trike. Available at Rouse Hill only.
- Accredited by TfNSW for trike training.
- One full day, 7 hours.
- Helmet and gloves provided. Trike hire available.

The NSW Pre-Learner course has minimal requirements — designed to be accessible to anyone ready to start riding.
⚠ Age Requirement
Course: Must be at least 16 years and 6 months old on the day of the course.
Learner Permit: Must be 16 years and 9 months when visiting Service NSW.

What to Bring on the Day
Most things are provided — here’s the full breakdown.
- ✓Motorcycle — Provided by Stay Upright. No bike needed.
- ✓Helmet — Provided. You’re welcome to bring your own approved helmet.
- ✓Gloves — Provided. Or bring your own motorcycle-specific gloves.
- !Protective clothing — Long sleeves, long pants and ankle-covering boots required.
- !Photo ID — Valid government-issued photo ID required on the day.
- !Arrive on time — Punctual arrival is essential. Late arrivals may not be able to participate.
