NSW PRE-LEARNER COURSE

You’re at the beginning of something really great.  The two-day Pre-Learner course is an NSW Government requirement to gain your Motorcycle Learner’s Permit.  We offer the accredited course at a choice of locations across NSW and a wide range of course dates, to suit you.

  • Stay Upright is accredited by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) as a provider of motorcycle training and testing for riders wishing to obtain their motorcycle pre-learner and provisional licences.
  • The course takes place over two half days, each of 3.5 hours.
  • Bike, helmet and gloves are provided.

Prerequisites: You must be at least 16 years and six months old at the time of the course. You must be 16 years and nine months when attending Service NSW to have your Learner Licence issued.

Locations:  Bathurst, Bomaderry, Botany, Campbelltown, Clyde, Loftus, Penrith, Rouse Hill, Wagga and Queanbeyan.

NSW PRE-PROVISIONAL LICENSING COURSE INCLUDING SKILLS TEST (MOST)

You’re on your way to freedom town.  This is the next step on your journey from Learner to P-Plater.  We offer the full-day course, seven days a week, at a range of different locations across NSW.

  • Stay Upright is accredited by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) as a provider of motorcycle training and testing for riders wishing to obtain motorcycle learner and provisional licences.
  • Includes Motorcycle Operator Skills Test (MOST).
  • Helmet and gloves can be provided.
  • Bike hire is available (please choose your selection at the checkout).

Prerequisites: You must have held your learner permit for at least three months and no longer than 12 months. We recommend you book your course at least 6 weeks before the end of the qualifying period.

Locations: Bathurst, Bomaderry, Botany, Campbelltown, Clyde, Loftus, Penrith, Rouse Hill, Wagga and Queanbeyan.

NSW PRE-PROVISIONAL MOST/SKILLS TEST ONLY

If you need to convert your overseas licence, take an age or re-test or if TfNSW has advised you that you only need to the MOST skills test, this is for you.  Our TfNSW-accredited course is offered seven days a week, at a range of locations across NSW.

  • Transport for NSW (TfNSW) accredited course.
  • One-and-a-half hours.
  • Offered seven days a week in a range of locations.
  • Helmet and gloves can be provided.
  • Bike hire available.

Please note:

  • If you hold a NSW Motorcycle Learners Licence and have not already completed the Pre-Provisional Course, you must complete the full-day NSW Pre-Provisional Course, including MOST/Skills test.
  • You will be asked to present documentation of eligibility before being able to complete the test (i.e. Certificate of Completion for the Pre-Provisional Course, or other TfNSW authorisation documentation).

PRACTICE SESSION INCLUDING MOST

Practice makes perfect – it also makes for fun.  If you’re just taking the MOST, why not increase your chances of success and your confidence, with a two-hour practice session with an experienced instructor, prior to taking the MOST itself.

  • This session is suitable for those who need only to pass a MOST in order to convert an overseas Licence or other reasons as determined by Transport for NSW (TfNSW).  It does not replace the NSW Pre-Provisional Course, required by TfNSW.
  • If you are unsure of eligibility, please contact us.
  • Course fee includes bike hire, helmet and gloves.
  • Offered in a wide range of locations across NSW.

PRACTICE SESSION FOR L-PLATERS

Our popular Practice Sessions prepare L-Platers for their Pre-Provisional Training and MOST/Skills Test.  Led by our experienced instructors, the course is designed to improve your physical and mental skills.  It will also help you resolve any issues you may be experiencing, making your transition to P’s, much easier.

Two-hour session, with a maximum of six participants.
Bike hire is included, but you’re welcome to bring your own.

Prerequisites: You must have your Learner’s Permit.

Locations:  Botany, Campbelltown, Clyde, Penrith and Rouse Hill

Cost: $179

RANGE TO ROAD FOR PRE-LEARNERS

Get off the range and onto the road.  This course helps Pre-Learners transition from the training range, to the public road, with confidence.  Led by our experienced instructors, you’ll refresh your skills, finesse your lane positioning, enhance your roadcraft and understand how best to deal with a variety of challenges you are likely to come across, on the road.

  • Two-hour sessions with a maximum of four participants.
  • Bike hire is included, but you’re welcome to bring your own.

Prerequisites:  Learner’s Permit.

Locations: Botany, Campbelltown, Clyde, Penrith and Rouse Hill.

PRIVATE LESSONS

There’s nothing better than some good old one-to-one tuition to build your confidence and enhance your skills – especially when it’s provided by one of Stay Upright’s experienced instructors.

  • One-hour coaching sessions tailored to suit your needs.
  • Takes place on the range or on the road – you choose.
  • Bike hire is included, but you’re welcome to bring your own.
  • Suitable for practice whilst waiting to take your Pre-Provisional Course.

ADVENTURE COURSE

Get some fresh air on our Adventure Course. No matter what skill level, we’ll give you the skills to fly! In a full, fun-packed day course, you’ll learn how to handle the things you might come across in an adventure ride; how to ride in dirt, how to ascend and descend, how to pick up a dropped bike (and how to pick bugs out of your teeth….)  You’ll also learn how to ride a big bike, off road and lots of off-road techniques that will help you to go further, easier.

  • You can bring your own adventure bike or hire one of our Honda CRF230. Oh yeah!

Prerequisites:  A motorcycle licence – learners and above. If on a restricted licence, the rider must have a LAMS approved bike. Adventure bike gear recommended.

SU ROADSMART ONE

Roadsmart One is designed for L-platers, P-platers and anyone who would like to build their confidence on the road.  In a half-day (four hours), you’ll expand your physical and mental skills to ensure you can handle anything the road can throw at you.  You’ll perfect techniques like cornering and braking and enhance your roadcraft, allowing you to stay safe whilst enjoying your ride.

  • Takes place on the track but is road-focused, keeping you safe whilst you work on your skills.
  • This course is recognised by many insurers to achieve a discount.

Prerequisites:  Learner’s Permit or above

SU ROADSMART TWO

Roadsmart Two is our most popular course.  It’s designed for P-Platers and above who want to perfect their riding skills and ensure their safety on the road.  The full-day course blends roadcraft with physical skills.  In it, you’ll master cornering, braking and bike control.  You’ll perfect your posture and vision abilities.  You’ll also have plenty of riding time and our Follow Sessions will give you detailed feedback on your riding technique – and show you how it can be improved.

  • Takes place on the track but is road-focused, keeping you safe whilst you work on your skills.
  • This course is recognised by many insurers to achieve a premium discount.

Prerequisites:  For everyone with P-Plates and above. If on a restricted licence, you must be riding a LAMS approved bike.

SU ROADSMART THREE

Roadsmart Three is for confident road riders, sports riders and / or those who have previously completed Roadsmart Two.  In a full and action-packed day, you’ll finesse your cornering, bust some braking myths and work on your ability to harness your bike’s braking system.   We also share the best lines to use, introduce you to track lines and show you how to reduce your risks. You’ll also have plenty of riding time and our Follow Sessions will give you detailed feedback on your riding technique – and show you how it can be improved.

Online Side-By-Side Training Course

In conjunction with the team at Polaris, Stay Upright has developed an online training course for operators of Side-By- Side vehicles. This course is perfect for:
  • Beginners needing an overview of the safe operation of side-by-side vehicles but are not yet ready or able to attend face to face training.
  • Experienced operators who have completed the face to face module (AHCMOM216 - Operator Side by Side Utility Vehicles) and are looking for a refresher course to complete regularly.
  • Organisations are required under WHS laws to take all steps reasonably practicable to maintain the safety of their workers. This course will assist organisations utilising Side by Side vehicles to meet that ongoing obligation on an annual basis.

  • Risk management
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Pre-ride side-by-side Utility check
  • Choosing the right vehicle for the right job
  • Environmental considerations
  • OHS/WHS
  • Loads and towing

WORKPLACE TRAINING

We began providing Australian Workplace Training in 1990 – and if we do say so ourselves, we’re very good at it.  Our registered courses have achieved the Australia Qualifications Framework at the highest possible level. We work closely with everyone from Government agencies to Agricultural and food delivery businesses, to train staff and significantly reduce the risk of accidents, for two-wheel, Quad and side-by-side vehicles.

We train and assess to National units of competency including:

  • AHCMOM201 – Operate 2-Wheel Motorbikes
  • AHCMOM216 – Operate Side by Side Utility Vehicles
  • AHCMOM217 – Operate Quad Bikes / ATVs
