What do I need to bring to Courses and Assessments?
On provisional courses or assessments your ACT motorcycle Learner Licence must be current and must be carried with you.
An AS1698-approved motorcycle helmet and motorcycle gloves are essential. Wear sturdy clothing that covers your arms and legs and sturdy footwear. We recommend you wear boots giving good ankle protection. A motorcycle jacket will be required during the course road ride.
On provisional courses and assessments you may use your own motorcycle. It will be inspected and must pass a registration and roadworthy check at the start of the course or assessment. Stay Upright motorcycles are available for hire at an additional fee.
Provisional Assessment Open Mornings - ($15)
This is your chance to come along, meet other learner riders and have a trial run at the provisional licence assessment just for fun.
Open mornings are held at the Sutton Road Driver Training Centre on the last Saturday of every month between 9am and 12 noon. Bookings are not required, just bring $15 and line up to await your turn. We do not provide motorcycles or safety gear for use at Open Mornings so come prepared.
Open Mornings are a great ‘no pressure’ way to experience the Assessment first hand, to gauge for yourself how your skill development is progressing and to get professional feedback. Open Mornings are quite informal with no records being retained, in fact you take the scoresheet away with you. You cannot obtain your provisional licence just by attempting the assessment at an Open Morning.
